Founder Ryo Kashiwazaki honed his craft as a cobbler, from which the idea of Hender Scheme was birthed, a pure and genuine approach to leather goods that supported his local industry and craftsmen. The Manual Industrial Products (MIP) line is the brand’s best known collection, reinterpreting popular massed produced trainers with the Hender Scheme philosophies and handmade processes. Aiming to find the line between mass-production and exclusivity, these homages to sneaker culture are an important commentary on consumerism as well as an historical marker in the world of design.
